Start in Zurich and finish in Munich
Optional Best of Germany Pre-Tour
Guides: Pat & Denise Lemmon
Join us for an unforgettable survey of a region of Europe that, more than any other tour we offer, epitomizes our slogan of capturing the “history, culture, and scenery” of the lands through which we travel. No other region of the world we visit is so wonderfully crowded with world-changing history, delightful traditions of culture, and mind-numbing scenery!
We’ve made very few changes to the 2008 edition of Alpine Europe. All the sites on the 2006 edition of the Alpine Europe Panoramas tour are still available to travelers with a Best of Germany Pre-tour that begins in Munich and ends in Zürich and the 12-day main program starting in Zürich and finishing in Munich. The core of the Adventure is this true Alpine region of the program. However, travelers who are only able to participate in the Best of Germany Pre-tour are welcome to inquire about joining us only for that section of the trip.
Highlights of the 7-day Best of Germany Pre-tour include Munich, the Romantic Road and Rothenburg, Bacharach and a Rhine Cruise, the Gutenberg Museum, the Black Forest, and the Rhine Fall. After meeting Alpine Europe travelers in Zürich, we’ll enjoy nearly non-stop breathtaking alpine panoramas over the next 13 days; Jungfraujoch, Sussten Pass, the Dolomites, Grossglochner Alpine Road, Hitler’s Eagles Nest, and unnumerable lesser known scenic wonders make each day a magical passage through a 3-D postcard. Along with all this sensory overload, we’ll learn what makes this part of Europe unique – the Reformation, cuckoo clocks, William Tell and Swiss Independence, Smart cars, the Hapsburg Dynasty, Swiss army knives, Hitler and World War II, amazing flower boxes, Mozart, mountain-climbing, great beer… and the list goes on.
