12th IVV Olympiad option available for fall departures of Greece & Turkey!
The 12th IVV Olympiad takes place in October 2011 in Turkey. Travelers participating in the Fall editions of our Turkey: Crossroads of the Ancient World Adventure are invited to join us for this international celebration of walking and volkssport.
FALL #1 - IVV OLYMPIAD EXTENSION
Travelers on Fall #1 will arrive in Istanbul from Cappadocia on Day 9 of the main Turkey Adventure. Depending upon flight schedules, they will depart the same morning on a domestic flight to Antalya for participation in the IVV Olympiad.
FALL #2 - IVV OLYMPIAD PRE-TOUR
Travelers on Fall #2 will participate in the Olympiad as an optional pre-tour. They will arrive into Istanbul on October 19 and overnight in Istanbul. Next morning, October 20, they will fly into Antalya with travelers from Fall #1.
NOTE: Fall #2 travelers will have one additional night in Istanbul on October 19. See pricing below.

OCTOBER 20: ISTANBUL – ANTALYA (D)
Upon arrival in Antalya, we head for the Olympiad Village at Ataturk Park to pick up our registration materials. Walks of 10 km and 5 km are available this afternoon, followed by the Opening Ceremonies at the Antalya Soccer Stadium and the Welcome Party at Karaalioglu Park.
OCTOBER 21: OLYMPIAD ACTIVITIES IN ANTALYA AREA (BD)
The day starts early for any marathon walkers. The rest of us have several walking options available between 4 and 20 km situated in the Taurus Mountains, cycling options of 25 and 50 km around Muratpasa Town and along the Mediterranean, and swimming at an indoor pool or in the Mediterranean Sea! Welcome events will be going on throughout the evening at Lara Beach.
OCTOBER 22: OLYMPIAD ACTIVITIES IN ANTALYA AREA (B)
Walk routes today again range from 5 to 42 km and the venue is Muratpasa Town and along the Mediterranean. Cycling and swimming events are scheduled today as well, with an added route through the forests of the Taurus Mountains. More socializing happens this evening at Konyaalti Beach near our hotel.
OCTOBER 23: ANTALYA – ISTANBUL (B)
Final walks are available this morning between 5 and 20 km. After Closing Ceremonies at Ataturk Park this afternoon, we return to Istanbul. Travelers finishing their Adventure in Turkey (Fall #1) will overnight in Istanbul and catch their flights back to North America tomorrow, October 24. Travelers participating in the Olympiad as a pre-tour (Fall #2) overnight in Istanbul and begin their Turkey: Crossroads of the Ancient World Adventure in earnest tomorrow, October 24.

** Airfare pricing for domestic flights in Turkey is somewhat volatile and is not yet available. Adventure price includes airfare estimates at time of brochure publication. Travelers will be notified of any changes in airfare pricing and will be billed or credited accordingly.
*** Fall #2 travelers will have one additional night in Istanbul on October 19. Additional cost for this night will be $125 (double occupancy), and will include 2 airport transfers, a hotel in the historic district, and breakfast the following morning.
